Carolyn discusses her time being overweight, dealing with depression and low energy. Dr. Shel tested Carolyn's hormones, vitamin deficiency and thyroid and with the results, worked with Carolyn to help her with these issues. Dr. Shel also introduced Carolyn to her nutritionist and she lost 26 lbs. Carolyn wanted to feel the same way on the outside that she was now feeling on the inside. In lieu of a facelift, Dr. Shel recommended skin tightening with a combination of injectables and Carolyn felt amazing.

My name is Caroline Cease and I met Dr. Shel about six years ago.I was going through a really difficult time. Both of my children were grown and they left home and I was feeling just really useless. I was overweight, I was tired, I was depressed. I just didn't have the energy I used to have and I found that to be very depressing. I went to see Dr. Shel and she was you know just wonderful very compassionate and understanding. We tested the hormones, we tested the thyroid, we tested vitamin deficiency. I mean, she really tried to get to the root of what ever was making me feel the way that I feel, or was feeling at the time, I feel so much better now! So, anyway. We got all of that in balance and during the process she got me with her nutritionist and I lost twenty six pounds. And I've been able to keep it off for the six years. So, Anyway. That greatly improved my life and I felt so much more energetic, but I was still seeing the same face in the mirror when I got up in the morning. I thought there's gotta be something I can do short of getting a facelift but will make me feel on the outside like I do on the inside. So I went and we did some skin tightening. We did some injectables. We did some things like that and I just felt like a new woman...I felt amazing! So we're going to fast forward now to what ended up being a real downturn in my life. It started about two and a half years ago and the ultimate result was that at the age of 61 I went through a divorce after forty years of marriage. It's very hard for me to describe the depth of devastation that I felt. So I wallowed in it for a while and I thought you know what even though I'm 61 years old I still have a life to live and I want to live it the best possible way that I know how and then in the next thought I need to go back and see Dr. Shel again. I feel like a new person. I have the confidence. I'm so much confident. I don't feel like that my opinion of myself has to rely on what somebody else thinks of me. and I want to help other women. I wanna talk to the young women who are in your twenties and thirties. Ladies I know that you get married you have kids and your life becomes very very busy please take the time to take care yourself. It's so very important not only to take care of yourself on the inside but also the outside, because your children are going to grow up and leave home one of these days and you're gonna need to still feel good about yourself. For the ladies that are in their forties and fifties. You're going through mid-life and I know we are a very youth-oriented society and that sometimes can really bring us down, but what you have to realize is we are living much much longer nowadays than we used to, so you still have so many more opportunities as you grow older than we did say twenty or thirty years ago. And so what you need to do is take care of your health because so many diseases are preventable. You also need to take care of your appearance so that you feel like you can go out and engage the world as an individual, as your own person. Go ahead take care of yourself we're still young women at sixty-something. If you take your inside and your outside the world is still your oyster.
