Defenders vs. Survivors:
2 types of survivors:
Survivors- are found in the missions and are used to give more XP to your hero’s
Survivors- gotten from loot llama’s are used to buff your power and make your squads stronger

Defenders are ally’s you can summon to help you out on missions and these are kept in your hero squad.

What are hero squads?
They are a mechanic that lets you place hero’s/defenders in different supportive roles in order to give you a buff while on missions. We aren’t sure how exactly this works yet, and my Alpha sources also won’t let it spill because of the NDA.
But here is what we know, before you start a mission you can pick a Hero squad the first slot is the main Hero that you will be player as, and the other 2 slots are to filled with other hero’s. The way Darren Suggs explained this was that the 2 hero’s that were not being used, would add 20% of their value (in offense and health) on the Hero you are using, as well as you can get some buffs. Now, the 2 extra slots are specific as one is a tactical slot and the other is a supportive slot. The Devs stated that the Hero’s will have tactical and supportive abilities that you can give to the main hero.
This brings up an interesting point. So basically, you could have a character that has a good tactical ability and a really good supportive ability, but because you can only fit them in 1 slot, it forces you to choose which one you’d like. Seems like a very interesting mechanic.


What are survivor squads?
Think of this as another way to build up your character. You survivor squads are broken up in multiple smaller squads such as, the EMT squad, the training team, Fire team Alpha, and the close assault squad which is what we have confirmed so far.
There could be many more squads besides these. What these squads do is give you buff while you are in the field. For example, the EMT squad give a health boost to the player and the Fire Team Alpha give a damage boost to the player.
These survivors are not the same as what you find in missions, they are gotten from loot llama’s.
